My paintings are about expressing a visual experience that challenges and communicates with a sense of mystery in hopes of awakening the senses. Mystery is a part of life, where not everything is easily explainable.

I begin each painting with a journey into the unknown, where getting lost becomes the answer to which direction to take. I find the moment I’m lost is when I really discover the enjoyment of painting, and of who I am. I start by making corrections with colors and shapes, adding and subtracting abbreviated images, while embracing changes. It is during this process that I get glimpses of what Im looking for and discoveries are made. The end result of the painting is an abstract expression of that particular idea or image that is felt and reaches beyond reality.
